Procedure for Reclassing Pamphlets Volumes (“H” Volumes) Rev. June 1, 2009
The purpose of this procedure is to allow the library’s collected pamphlets to be shelved with the regular collection with Library of Congress classification. These pamphlets were bound together in broad subject areas, and we will provide a general LC classification number, using a number for collected works or monographic series if available. Catalogers will provide the LC number for each set.
Add 050 4 using base number provided; follow base number with the volume number of the book in hand, and the number of the specific article.
ex. CD H = K4453|b.F43
volume CD H17, first article:
· Add 050 4 K4453|b.F43 v.17, no.1
· Add 090 CD H17
· Add series note from the title on the spine; for CD:
490 0 Federal taxation and finance pamphlets ;|vv. 17, no. 1
K4453 .F43 V.17:NO.1
The system adds a |z; make the barcode AUTO (except for the first article in the volume); cross out the barcode at the end of the volume
Feel free to create keyboard express keys for the 490 and for the call number.
